Toby Radcliffe
"I am starting to race as a pro for the 2008 season - the next few years are going to be a lot of hard work and fun! Here's to the long-game!
I did my first Ironman in 2005, and that was the first year when I really started cycling any kind of decent distances. I had started running by signing up for the london marathon in 2000, and was an average swimmer from swimming at college. I switched to triathlons in 2002 when just running started to get a bit repetitive. My debut as an olympic distance triathlete was NOT anything special, not least because I had never ridden 40km on a bike before!"
The long game seems to be working pretty well as in 2007 Toby was the first British athlete home (39th overall) at Ironman Austria in 9h 16mins, 15th overall at Ironman UK in 9h 15mins and won the Limmasol Olympic distance triathlon in Cyprus.
You can follow his progress for 2008 both from this site and from his personal one.
