About Triperformance

The aim of Triperformance is two fold:

1) To act as a central resource for all things triathlon. Whether its 1:1 coaching, articles or links to further information, you can find it all here.

2) To help enable the individual athlete to become as good as they possibly can. The only limits in this life are those that are imposed by ourselves.

About Me

I grew up with sport. I swam competitively as a junior and competed at a national level. Alongside this, I played rugby, and achieved a good club standard. After 4 years enjoying a bit too much of the high life at university, I decided to start taking fitness seriously. Having topped out on the scales at a shade under 18 stone I entered the London Marathon in 2000. 5 hours and 50 minutes of run walking on a warm April day convinced me that I wanted to explore endurance events and I set about looking for the next challenge.

Remembering something called Ironman that I had seen on TV a while back, I decided to relearn how to ride a bike, and get back in the pool. I brought my first road bike in the spring of 2001 and struggled through a 7 mile ride to the gym and back. 18 months later and I was at the Ironman Austria startline and about to do my first ever triathlon. I had no tri bars, I wore rugby kit for the marathon, I had no coach and no experience, but I got through in a little over 14 hours.

Since that first experience, its been one heck of a journey. I have to date conquered 8 Ironmans including the 2003 Hawaii world championship race, and numerous shorter distance tri's. I have also completed everything from 3km to marathon road races, 150-500km cyclosportives and a handfull of adventure races. Sport has quite literally changed my life, and it is my passion.

In October 2007, I decided to quit my corporate job and see just how far I can get with Ironman racing. I have always felt held back by having a 9-5, and I am more excited than ever to see where the coming years will take me, and just how fast that overweight rugby player can get! Coupled with this, I hope to get involved with the community in general and help others to achieve their goals. I am just an ordinary person striving to be the best he can be. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have-I'm only too happy to share my passion!
